Once man did not have to think about the protection of his environment.There were few people on the earth, and natural resources seemed to beunlimited.

Today things are different. The world has become too crowded. We are usingup our natural resources,and polluting our environment with dangerous chemicals.If we continue to do this, human life on earth will not survive.

We realize that if too many fish are taken from the sea, there will soon benone left. Yet,with modern fishing methods, more and more fish are caught.Weknow that if too many trees are cut down, forests will disappear. Yet, wecontinue to use powerful machines to cut down more and more trees. We see thatif rivers are polluted with waste products, we will die. Yet, waste products arestill put into rivers.

We know that if the population continues to rise at the present rate, in afew years, there won't be enough food.What can we do to solve theseproblems?

If we eat more vegetables and less meat, there will be more food available.Land for crops feeds five times more people than land where animals arekept.

Our natural resources will last longer if we learn to recycie them.

The world population will not rise so quickly if people use modern methodsof birth control.

Finally, if we educate people to think about the problems we shall have abetter and cleaner planet in the future.

To protect the environment, governments of many countries have done a lot.Legislative steps have been introduced to control air pollution, to protect theforest and sea resources and to stop any environmental pollution. In my opinion, to protect environment, the government must take even moreconcrete measures. First, it should let people fully realize the importance ofenvironmental protection through education. Second, much more efforts should bemade to put the population planning policy into practice, because more peoplemeans more people means more pollution. Finally, those who destroy theenvironment intentionally should be severely punished. We should let them knowthat destroying environment means destroying mankind themselves.

unfortunately， nowadays in many parts of the world lots of people fail torealize the importance of trees. they have cut trees down in large numberswithout a plan，which makes the soil washed away. they don't know where there notrees， the rain washed away the surface of the soil and this causes floods.

we ought to plant trees each year and carefully look after new trees inorder not to make the forest slowly disappear. only' in this way can we make theforest serve man forever.

众所周知，树有很多的用处，人类从中得到如下很多益处：第一，树给我们提供了木材和其他一些产品。第二，它们的根能让雨水渗进并保持乒壤以免被水冲走，所以树木可以预防旱灾和水灾。同时树木还帮我们净化空气，美化生活。

不幸的是，今天世界上很多地方人们没有意识到树木的重要性。他们无计划的大量砍伐树木，这样使得土壤被破坏，他们不知道那没有树的地方，一下雨就把土壤的表层冲走了，导致洪灾。

我们应该多植树，同时好好照顾小树，不要让森林一点点消失，只有这样才能让森林永远为人类服务。
